As a native of Charlotte, NC, I have seen this city  grow from three skyscrapers to becoming one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Just as I have watched my hometown grow, I saw myself grow with it. From a young girl that had all the confidence in the world, to someone that became burdened by social anxiety and didn’t know who she was…I found the Carolina Women Rock organization, which gave me no other choice but to  love, and to accept the person that I saw in the mirror. I fought the voice in my head that told me I couldn’t and went from being Miss Charlotte, to Miss Elite Carolina Women Rock. I couldn’t believe a tomboy like me could actually achieve what I just had. My title gives me the opportunity to use the voice that I have been so afraid to use to help other young women and girls discover who they really are and to embrace the uniqueness that they possess. We don’t need the approval of the world and the likes of social media to be accepted. Knowing who you are comes from within you. And I want to see us embrace that person with confidence…Because you Rock! Exactly the way that you are!
